The 4.3-meter DCT will soon become Lowell's premier research tool.

The DCT will advance Lowell's mission to conduct world-class astronomical research, science education, and outreach. Located about 40 miles southeast of Flagstaff, the DCT is the product of a shared vision by Lowell and Discovery Communications to bring the exciting results of astronomical discovery to a global audience. Early commissioning of the telescope commenced in September 2011 with testing of the primary mirror and its complex support system. First light is expected by May 2012.
