In May 2007, Lowell Observatory opened the new John Vickers McAllister Space Theatre for programs in our exhibit hall. We offer frequent shows during daytime and nighttime public hours and special events.
Located just one mile west of historic downtown Flagstaff, Arizona, Lowell's scenic Mars Hill campus is the site of our 6500-square foot Steele Visitor Center. We offer daytime guided tours at 15 minutes past the hour from 9:15 AM through 4:15 PM, and tours, exhibits and telescope viewing in the evenings. Experience outstanding views of the heavens and wide-screen, cinematic multimedia shows. Come to Lowell and discover your Universe!
Enjoy personalized programs and stargazing for groups of one to 60, with programs tailored to all ages! A one-hour daytime program is $70; a 90-minute evening program is $150. Lowell Observatory will celebrate National Astronomy Day with telescope viewing, indoor presentations, access to historic displays, and prize giveaways. At 7 PM, Lowell docent Howard Israel will give an indoor presentation, Myths and Legends of the Sky. Saturn will be a featured object to view through telescopes at night.
All mothers are admitted for free! This special event will feature internationally acclaimed harpist Megan Metheney playing music written about the moon. Telescope viewing will also be available. Saturn will be a featured object to view.
