Lowell Speaker Series
For those of you who remember the television landscape of the 1960s, the nightly news invaded our homes with a war that was brutal and controversial. Along comes a show that offered us hope and peace for the future, Star Trek. A lot has been written about it by various media including Space.com, which recently covered it as their lead story titled “Why We Still Love ‘Star Trek’, Final Frontiers and All”. Star Trek is often cited as a major influence on the lives of astronauts, scientists, engineers and others from all walks of life.
No one, in my opinion, epitomizes Star Trek and its values more than Captain James T. Kirk played by our speaker, William Shatner. His role as Captain Kirk showed us a man who was independent and whose success couldn’t be argued even though he often bucked the system.
Please join Lowell Observatory as we host an evening with William Shatner. Individual ticket prices are $150.00 with a portion being tax deductible. If you would like to meet Mr. Shatner and have your picture taken with him, join the Observatory at the Lowell Associate level of $1000.00 (dinner ticket not included).
May you “live long and prosper”.
