We're open daily in December from noon until 5:00 PM MST, and Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM MST (we may close earlier in poor weather). Look here to see our year-round hours.

Your Lowell experience begins at the 6500 square foot Steele Visitor Center. Explore our interactive exhibit hall, and see wide-screen multimedia shows in our auditorium. Guided tours depart from the visitor center on the hour throughout the day.

DAYTIME TOURS

Logo From October 22 through December 3, tours begin on the hour from 1:00 PM through 4:00 PM and are 45 minutes long. You'll visit the Clark Telescope and historic Rotunda Museum. In the Rotunda, you'll not only learn about important discoveries made at Lowell through the years, but also experience A New Perspective on Mars. This temporary exhibit features breathtaking 3D images recorded by the European Space Agency's Mars Express Mission, and is a feast for the eyes. This exhibit runs through December 3.
Logo Both the Clark Telescope and Rotunda Museum are handicapped accessible.
Logo At your leisure, you can explore the Discover the Universe exhibit hall and watch the 15-minute multimedia show "Lowell Observatory: A New Century of Discovery" in the Giclas Lecture Hall.
Logo When the weather permits, safely view the Sun from 12:30 - 12:55 PM.

NIGHTTIME PROGRAMS

Logo Doors open at 5:30 PM. Telescope viewing is weather-dependent and commences as soon as it is dark enough.
Logo At your leisure, you can explore the Discover the Universe exhibit hall and the John Vickers McAllister Space Theatre. Through December 3, experience A New Perspective on Mars. This temporary exhibit features breathtaking 3D images recorded by the European Space Agency's Mars Express Mission.
Logo The multimedia shows "Sky Tonight" and "Heavy Astronomy" repeat throughout the evening in the Giclas Lecture Hall.

SCHOOL AND PRIVATE PROGRAMS

Logo A private, one-hour daytime program is $70.00, and includes two multimedia presentations and/or historic tours.
Logo A private, 90-minute evening program is $150.00, and includes one multimedia presentation and exclusive access to the telescopes for viewing (weather permitting).
Logo All private programs also include access to our Visitor Center's Discover the Universe exhibit hall.

Guided daytime tours last 45 minutes and leave from our Visitor Center on the hour between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

The Rotunda Museum is a fitting conclusion to the campus tour. See historic exhibits, including a hands-on childrens' exhibit.
